Decline in Charitable Gifts Reported

GuideStar Nonprofit Economic Survey
GuideStar, a leading provider of information on nonprofit issues, asked nonprofit staff how their organizations fared financially during the first nine months of 2008 compared to the first nine months of 2007. The recently published GuideStar Nonprofit Economic Survey indicates that the proportion of participating nonprofits reporting decreased contributions nearly doubled between 2007 and 2008. In addition, almost half of the participants that rely on year-end gifts expect donations to decline during the last quarter of 2008 compared to the last quarter of 2007.
