Community Development Wachovia Foundation -- Community Needs Grants Application Deadline: Ongoing Description: The Wachovia Foundation is a private foundation that is funded annually by Wachovia Corporation. The foundation provides grants to eligible 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations in four primary areas: · education · community development · health and human services · arts and culture. Who May Apply: To be considered for grant funding, organizations must: · have a nonprofit tax-exempt classification under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code · be located or provide service in Wachovia's markets (see Web site for more information) · have broad community support and address specific community needs · demonstrate fiscal and administrative stability · align with one or more of the foundation's focus areas (see above).

Description: The purpose of the McKenzie Foundation is to encourage and support nonprofit programs, primarily in the areas of education, health, human services, and cultural and environmental concerns. Faced with the task of translating these broad-reaching goals into a more focused set of grant guidelines, the board has selected four initiatives that will shape its grant-making for the next few years: · early childhood development · education · the environment · arts and culture. Who May Apply: The foundation makes grants only to tax-exempt organizations with 501(c)(3) classification from the Internal Revenue Service. It does not support for-profit organizations or candidates for political office.

Promote social and emotional learning with the research-based
program at: HIV/AIDS Cable Positive -- Tony Cox Community Fund Application Deadline: March 14, 2008 Description: Cable Positive's Tony Cox Community Fund is a national grant program that exists to encourage community-based AIDS service organizations (ASOs) and cable systems to partner in joint outreach efforts, or to produce and distribute new, locally focused HIV/AIDS-related programs and public service announcements (PSAs). Funding Amount: Cable Positive allocates $100,000 to support two grant cycles each year. Grants are available up to $7,000. Who May Apply: 501(c)(3) organizations. Special consideration will be given to ASOs and cable systems and producers partnering with ASOs.

Description: These grants will support the following types of programs: · innovative educational programs intended to motivate biomedical and other health science students to pursue cancer-related careers · short courses to update cancer-research scientists in new scientific methods, technologies, and findings · training of cancer-care clinicians and community health-care providers in evidence-based cancer prevention and control approaches · development of effective innovative education approaches (dissemination) to translate knowledge gained from science (discovery) into public-health and community applications (delivery). Funding Amount: The total project period for an application submitted in response to this funding opportunity may not exceed five years. Direct costs are limited to $300,000 per year.
