 Carolyn Foundation RFP

  • Jane – Discussed RFP process for Carolyn Foundation. Patty Hannah has meeting scheduled for next Tuesday, April 23, 2002 to begin RFP process to be done by end of June.

  • Diana commented that it had been discussed that groups that previously received money would be able to renew and not go through such an extensive application process.

  •  Historically, the committee has gone to Executive Board. Diana talked about the importance of the power remaining with executive committee. Florence said the RFP committee was going to be Executive Committee plus two additional. PW membership. Executive Committee had given grantee committee power on how RFP, granting procedure. Need to review minutes from previous year. Jane said there had been discussion that people who were rejected would have opportunity to reapply. Need to decide what to do with that. Most of the people on RFP committee are no longer involved.

Non-Profit Issues

  •        Jane discussed have Charlie speak on 501 c3. Strategic plan committee had suggested 501 c 3 meeting should be separate meeting, not for general membership. Diana discussed that there are other ways to look at tax status of this coalition. Hope to have information on different options rather than 501 c 3. Jane wants information gathering for the meeting.

Big Event

  •        Discussion about next year’s big event and need to clarify who pays for what in advance. Jane will contact Sue Lynch about next year. Need to work together with Hospital, OPAEYC, and Prevention Works! Florence and Carol Huard are interested in looking at other speakers – possibly Terry Tofoya (Navajo) from Arizona, an inspirational speaker who Florence had seen at a Drug Free Communities Grant Meeting. Has spoken before at events – www.terrytofoya.com. People who have seen him come back with glowing reports. Does work in area of prevention. Elwha’s may have brought him in some time back.

  •        Jane would like to start early this year.

May Meeting

  •        Need to figure out program for May. Information on RFP process. Possibly SafeKids Dave Sue or Kim Yacklin. Florence will ask Kim Yacklin.

  •        Early Learning Foundation – Shaine will print out the groups that were funded – information to get to West End.

  •        Print evaluations from Big Event to have available

  •     Shaine will get to West End ahead of time.

  •        Committee Reports – Family Friendly Business, Others

PW Genearl Meeeting May 14, June 4

Will take off July and August for Membership Meetings.
