Parent Education Minutes 

Meeting Minutes from Parent Education Committee
April 27, 2001 9 am – Bonnie’s Bakery

Those present:  Joan Henry, Tammy Carruthers, Cynthia Martin, Diana Assumpcao, and Fiona Thom Hert.

The minutes from the previous meeting were approved. 

Parent Education Summit Electronic Survey: Fiona presented the need for input for this year’s summit.  An electronic survey can implemented through the College as a link.  Joan Henry and Fiona will work on the draft and complete the survey.  The proposed deadline for return of the surveys is June 20, 2001.   Diana requested that the survey be concise. 

Caroline Foundation: Discussion followed on a request to the RFP committee to generate evaluations of the process for participants including those that did not receive funding too.

Clock Hours: Fiona will call Carol Huard on Clock hours for Summit.  Also, she will look into Continuing Education credits.

Parent Education Matrix: Discussion followed on the current format and its awkwardness.  Cynthia and Fiona will work on streamlining the current product and working to improve readability. 

Website development:  Cynthia encouraged participation in the website and asked for information to be sent to her.  She and Shaine will post it on the website for parents and others to peruse.

Announcements:  Tammy Carruthers is starting an Infant Care Class May 7th at the Health Department.  Cynthia discussed the need to pursue parent education with outlying school districts.  She has a meeting with Crescent in a few days and will invite participation.  Cynthia also reported on the Readiness to Learn grant with Mary Morgan, which potentially be implemented this summer. 

The meeting adjourned at 10:15 am.
