Strategic
Planning/Policies and Procedures Committee Meeting Minutes Members Present: Florence Bucierka, Carol Huard, Jane Shefler, Fiona Hert The meeting was held from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at The
Mermaid Café in Port Angeles. Following an initial discussion about what we hoped to
accomplish during our meeting, a mission statement for the committee was

Develop an implementation
plan for the goals and priorities established by the Prevention Works!
membership. § Create a structure for Prevention Works! and its members that provides continuity to the activities of the organization over time and ensures all matters are dealt with in a consistent fashion. The remainder of the meeting was devoted to incorporating the priorities and goals of the membership at the annual meeting into outcome based language. We had a good beginning, but have a long way to go in identifying specific goals for each of three years. YEAR ONE Participate in a community task force for long-term prevention funding. Task force for long term funding (9 dots) Participate in the Children’s Alliance. Advocate for health care access for families (dental, mental, medical) (9 dots) Designate a liaison to the community health care access committee.

Community norming around prevention (8 dots) The next committee meeting will be held on Thursday, May 10, 4:00 P.M. at Juvenile and Family Services, 1912 W. 18th Street in Port Angeles. Newcomers are always welcome!
