Strategic
Planning/Policies and Procedures Committee Meeting Report The committee met at the Family Development Center from
11:30 AM to 12:45 PM. Members present: Connie Hyatt, Jan Laine, Brenda
Butterfield, and Carol Huard. The group decided to use a process proposed by Jan Laine.
It begins with the mission statement followed by an action plan and a scope of
work that encompasses timelines, resources needed, and persons accountable. Our first action was to revise the mission of the
committee based on the process we decided to apply. § Develop an action plan for the goals and priorities established by the Prevention Works! membership. § Create a scope of work for Prevention Works! that provides continuity to the activities of the organization over time and ensures all matters are dealt with in a consistent fashion. §
Identify gaps in the plan and recommend a set of possible
actions to close those gaps. Next we addressed the mission statement of Prevention
Works! and offer three proposed mission statements for consideration and/or
adoption. The mission of
Prevention Works is to 1.
Promote awareness and activities, which contribute to the elimination
of substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, and violence. (Current mission
statement) 2.
Reduce risk factors, which lead to child abuse and neglect, substance
abuse, and violence by assisting families with children from conception
through four years of age, by strengthening protective factors, and
enhancing the resilience of children, youth and families in Clallam County. 3.

to adulthood, by strengthening protective factors, and enhancing the
resilience of children, youth and families in Clallam County. The committee will meet on Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at the Family Development Center from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Bring a snack to share if you plan to attend. At that time we will undertake the task of creating an action plan.
